Arizona Musicfest Festival Chorus auditions are coming up soon! Many TPSC choristers have participated over the years, and it is always a great time!
The Arizona Musicfest "Festival Chorus" meets only one month a year (mid-January through mid-February) to prepare a collaborative concert with an ensemble of principal and other players from leading orchestras the world over. It is a thrill and mountaintop performance experience in very compressed rehearsal period. Here is a flyer about the upcoming auditions. Interested singers can also find:
http://azmusicfest.org/festival/chorus/ At the top of the opening concert for Beethoven's 9th, the Phoenix Symphony is going to pay tribute to the late Senator John McCain by performing an arrangement of Eternal Father, Strong to Save, the traditional Navy hymn. We will be able to work on it at next Monday's rehearsal.
This will mean that we perform onstage at the top of the program, retire back downstairs for the remainder of the first half of the concert, then come back to the stage during intermission to perform the B9. Tito found a recording of Eternal Father, Strong to Save: https://youtu.be/QmyeT31sNSE?t=1h22m22s (It should be cued up; but, if it isn't, the piece begins at 1h22m22s) You can also view this performance by the Naval Academy Glee Club on YouTube Dear TSPC Members:
Please click on the link below to read about next June's opportunity to perform in Paris, France, and to complete a critical survey by 9PM this Sunday evening. Please complete this survey WHETHER or NOT you are planning on going on the trip, so we can get a very accurate headcount. Feel free to share this email and link with any other singer friends who are not members of TPSC. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5QuLT4H89Js5zoNcazUwMg_2iAYcU_KmtrE3RVpoXXrUfpQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Tom August 20 will be our first rehearsal of the 2018-2019 season. Time to dust off the folders, purchase music (if you want to own your own copy), and warm up your voices.
Can't wait to see you all! We now have the final bus details for Sunday. Please read these details carefully so that you don't literally miss the bus!
1st pickup: Tempe Marketplace; loading at 11:45 a.m.; departing at 12:00 p.m.* 2nd pickup: Metrocenter Mall Transit Center: be there by 12:20 p.m.; departing at 12:30* * Please note the departure times mean the bus is leaving at that scheduled time. Make sure you plan accordingly in order to arrive before then. For the Tempe Marketplace pickup, we are meeting near the intersection of Rio Salado and Smith (please, please review this map). For Metrocenter, the pickup is at the Metrocenter Transit Center (see it Google Maps). If you are not taking the bus, call time for Sunday at Yavapai College (click for map) is 2:45 p.m. If you are taking the bus, for the trip back, bring a drink and a snack to share, if you wish! Don't show up to CUMC on Sunday, because the bus will not be stopping there! Thank you all for your dedication this week! Take care of yourselves and stay healthy! We'll be meeting at our regular time tomorrow (Monday) at 7 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church. Other call times for the week:
Please be on time and ready to go! The Diamondbacks have games on Thursday and Friday, so please give yourself plenty of time to arrive and park and walk to the hall. Some parking passes will be available on Monday, but only enough for 1 per person, and that assumes that some of you are carpooling. Please be sure to take just one parking pass and only if you need it. We'll have more on Tuesday. Please let me know if you have any questions, and please be in touch with your sections reps if you are ever running late! Thanks! Let's rise to meet the challenge ahead of us this week! :) - Joel Auernheimer To celebrate a wonderful season and enjoy each other's company one last time before saying farewell for the summer, we'd love for you to join us for our end-of-the-year chorus party.
This year, we're going full-on luau — complete with hog on a spit and all the fixings — so plan to wear your best tropical/floral Hawaiian duds. Grass skirts optional — ha! To simplify things, we've opted to have this party catered. The all-in price is $20 per person, or $35 per couple (we do encourage you to bring a friend). We will begin collecting money April 16th at rehearsals. Your payment will serve as your formal RSVP, but meanwhile please indicate your decision here: http://evite.me/w5tJssMXgq All food and non-alcoholic punch will be provided. If you’d like to BYOB, you’re free to do so! When: Friday, May 18 at 7:00 PM Where: Ivylyn Scott’s home @ 9918 North 79th Place Scottsdale, AZ 85258 If you have any questions, please reach out to Tia or Wendy. Many of you put in DVD orders with Craig on Monday, and he's finalized the price of these at $15. If you didn't get your order in, you can reach out to Craig directly at:
craigspaulding1234@yahoo.com. For those that ordered a DVD, he'll have them available at our next rehearsal. Bring your $15 (cash, or check to SPAULDING VIDEO). Look for him at the table in the back before rehearsal and at break. And feel free to help him collect money if the line gets too long! :) Reminder: we will be meeting at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church: 25150 N Pima Rd, in Scottsdale at our normal rehearsal time on Monday, 3/19. Please be on time with your black folders organized and your voice ready to go!
